“Medication? That’s just for people who don’t have a handle on life, or can’t cope with difficulties properly.” -Ignorant Human Being
My response to dispel that myth:
Medication is for people who are strong and humble. People who are trying their best to function and live a life of happiness and fulfillment.
I call these babies my happy pills (medically known as Zoloft). Been taking them for about 2 years now. #praise
Why do I call them my happy pills?
Because I have anxiety and depression, which means I have an emotional crater in my brain that doesn’t allow me to function fully without a little bit of help.
Anyone who takes medication for any illness or has seen someone struggling take medication, especially for mental illness, knows that it can literally be a lifesaver.
To all those who don’t have to take medication and may have a hard time understanding why people like me take it, here’s something to think about:
You wouldn’t judge someone for taking painkillers after an intensive surgery, would you? So why judge those who take emotional medication for illnesses that aren’t seen, but are just as real?
To all those who take medication or need that little extra bit of boost to get you through the day:
Keep your head up y’all. Take those pills with pride, and continue to grow into the person you’ve always wanted to be!
