I was 19 when I experienced my first nervous/emotional breakdown.
I had experienced a traumatic event that had left me shattered, broken, scarred, and bruised.
As the days, weeks, and months went on I experienced soul-crippling anxiety, depression, and panic attacks that left my already fractured emotional skeleton on the brink of wanting to end it all.
For those who understand the feeling, it’s very dark, very scary, and very REAL.
Mental illness is REAL.
Heartache is REAL.
Discouragement is REAL.
Pain is REAL.
But it wasn’t until I reached that deepest and darkest pit of my emotional, mental, and psychological self that I realized something powerful.
1. SOMETIMES IT TAKES AN OVERWHELMING BREAKDOWN TO CREATE AN UNDENIABLE BREAKTHROUGH!
2. We’re not given our pain so we can compare it to someone else’s. We’re given our pain because it’s part of our journey of learning, growing, and overcoming.
So to anyone out there right now who is on the brink of giving up. To anyone who can’t bear to even get out of bed because the pain (emotional, mental, physical, psychological, etc.) is too great, please remember this.
One day someone will come to you and thank you for telling your story about how you never gave up — and you’ll understand that all the struggle was worth it.
I believe in you!
